Austin Hill will once again drive the NASCAR Cup Series entry previously driven by Kyle Busch, following the tragic death of the 41-year-old NASCAR legend, with Richard Childress Racing confirming his involvement in the upcoming race.
The announcement comes after Hill drove the car, rebranded as the No. 33, in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where the garage was mourning Busch’s passing, with the team suspending its use of the No. 8 ahead of the race.
NASCAR Cup Series Entry
Hill, who competes full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, ended the Coca-Cola 600 one lap down in 27th, marking his 18th career start in the Cup Series, with his best finish at the top level of NASCAR being ninth at the Chicago Street Course last summer.
The upcoming Cup race at Nashville will feature a total of 38 entries, including the open entries of Chad Finchum and Corey Heim, with Hill set to compete in his first Cup race at the track, having previously achieved a best finish of fourth at Nashville in the O’Reilly Series.
Tribute to Kyle Busch
The weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway began with a somber ceremony in the garage, as the No. 33 and No. 3 team car of Austin Dillon unloaded first, with the rest of the field watching on, and the Busch family in attendance for a pre-race tribute, which included a rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’ on the bagpipes.
Hill competed in NASCAR’s longest race with no name above the door and a black No. 8 decal beside the No. 33, paying tribute to Kyle Busch, with the team and drivers showing their respect for the late NASCAR legend.
Upcoming Race
As the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Nashville, Hill will be looking to build on his experience and achieve a strong finish, with the support of Richard Childress Racing and the team’s tribute to Kyle Busch, and the upcoming race is set to be an exciting and emotional event, with Hill and the other drivers competing at the top level of NASCAR.
With the memory of Kyle Busch still fresh in the minds of the NASCAR community, the upcoming race at Nashville will be a significant event, with Hill and the other drivers set to compete at the highest level, and the tribute to Busch will continue to be an important part of the race, as the team and drivers show their respect for the late NASCAR legend.
