Guillaume Broche, the director who nailed the Game of the Year award for Clair Obscur Expedition 33, said a brief 30‑minute session in a GTA title left him feeling bored—a sentiment that suggests he’s not looking forward to GTA 6.
Broche’s Quick Verdict
During a conversation on the Jeux Vidéo Club segment of Konbini’s YouTube channel, the ex‑Ubisoft developer admitted that the open‑world experience in the GTA series failed to engage him: “I jump in, use cheat codes, wreak havoc, and then I quit.” The comment was aimed at the entire franchise, sidestepping any mention of Rockstar’s forthcoming entry.
Rockstar’s Production Edge
In a separate interview with Automaton, Broche praised Rockstar for its ability to sustain high production values. He argued that smaller studios would need to cap budgets, while Rockstar remains the benchmark for quality and scale in contemporary gaming.
Union Dynamics and GTA 6
Meanwhile, Rockstar’s team is preparing to file a voluntary recognition with the IWGB Game Workers Union ahead of the launch. The developer faces potential costs linked to union negotiations, which could impact the maintenance budget for GTA 6 and intensify ongoing labor disputes early in the year.
