
Even if little or nothing is known about the new BioShock game that is currently being developed by Cloud Chamber, current job advertisements by the developer now give a little bit of information about the direction in which it is aimed.
This means, among other things, that you are betting on a semi-open world, while the game world itself will be a major focus during development. An advertisement for a Lead World Designer speaks, among other things, of a “rich and dynamic world” that you want to bring to life. This should be filled with memorable moments that go along with the story, both from the perspective of architecture and design. Players should be hungry to explore this game world.
A job advertisement for a lead combat designer also speaks of player expression and experimentation within this highly reactive world. The combat system is also said to be a system-driven experience built around the player. Finally, there is talk of an “urban crowd system and a systemic tribal ecology of a sometimes hostile AI”.
It is not quite clear what the new BioShock will ultimately be, but the goals are obviously very ambitious.
However, it will take some time until the game is released, which according to 2K is just at the beginning of development, while the studio is being built in parallel.
