Gearbox confirms a new actor for the film adaptation of its popular video game saga: they already have an actor for the role of the brutal Krieg.
The Borderlands film continues to confirm actors and actresses for its extensive cast of characters. So much so, that The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively announced that former Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu will be in charge of giving life to the huge and dangerous Kreig. Thus, a new interpreter joins the cast of already confirmed big names such as Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Jamie Lee Curtis (Tannis), Kevin Hart (Roland) or Jack Black (Claptrap), among others.
Borderlands has no release date yet
Thus, after seeing the ex-boxer in the film Creed II as the imposing fighter Viktor Drago (rival of Michael B. Jordan in the film) and confirming his role as Razor Fist in the next Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings from Marvel Studios as part of the MCU, Florian Munteanu adds a new feature film to his acting resume with the adaptation of the Borderlands video game saga.

Let’s remember that the wild Krieg is the protector and bodyguard of the hilarious Tina Chiquitina, a character that will be played by the young Ariana Greenblatt, the last actress confirmed for the film. Eli Roth himself has shared some statements about the choice of Florian Munteanu for the role:
“Florian brings real humanity and multiple layers to a character who on the surface seems totally insane and brutally savage. Krieg was the hardest role to cast and Florian brought it to life in a way we didn’t imagine was possible. He will be a brilliant Krieg and will fit in perfectly with our incredible cast, ”says the filmmaker.
At the moment, Borderlands does not have a scheduled release date in theaters, as it is still in pre-production. Craig Mazin, famous for his work as a writer for the acclaimed series Chernobyl, is in charge of the script, a writer who is also working on the adaptation of another video game, in this case, The Last of Us series for HBO. In addition, both Randy Pitchford and Strauss Zelnick, director of Gearbox and head of Take-Two Interactive, respectively, together with the production company Arad Productions are involved in the production itself.
