Call of Duty exceeds $ 3 billion in net bookings in 12 months

The Activision Blizzard saga has just returned from the hand of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for consoles and PC.

It’s only been a few weeks since Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War came out, long enough for Activision Blizzard to talk about record numbers. The North American company has sent a press release stating that after the game was marketed, the Call of Duty saga “has exceeded $ 3 billion in net reserves” in the last 12 months. This figure represents “a maximum” during the period.

According to Activision, the entire Call of Duty saga has seen an improvement in its numbers. Thus, the increases so far this year “include net reserves of over 80%”, while the units sold have experienced a year-on-year growth of 40%. In this way, more than 200 million people have played a title in the saga during this year 2020. On the other hand, both on console and PC the number of players has been “the highest in their history.” The best data in a month of November has also been recorded in terms of monthly players and hours played.

In addition to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the arrival of Call of Duty: Mobile and the battle royale Call of Duty Warzone, which will continue to evolve at the same time as Black Ops Cold War, has contributed to the improvement in numbers.

“The situation of the Call of Duty ecosystem in the last year, from the free content Warzone, to Modern Warfare and now, with Black Ops Cold War, has been incredible,” said Byron Beede, executive vice president and general manager of Call of Duty at Activision. “This is the next big chapter in Black Ops, which comes with an incredible campaign, a totally new zombie experience and, of course, high-octane multiplayer. The launch is just the beginning. We are focused on offering free post-launch content, in the form of events, and for the entire franchise ”.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
