The Call of Duty professional esports league will conduct all of its events online rather than physically to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Those responsible for Call of Duty League have announced that all scheduled live events have been canceled and modified to be played online. Due to growing concern over COVID-19 (coronavirus) all encounters between Activision shooter professionals will take place online for now. Other companies have also offered statements regarding their intentions with the situation, such as Niantic and its measures in Pokémon GO or Square Enix and its plans in the framework of the canceled E3 2020.
Statements by the Call of Duty League
After ensuring that Activision Blizzard Esports are following the recommendations at the level requested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the statement details that they are changing all the live events of the Call of Duty League 2020 currently scheduled to a competition only online with immediate effect:
“New matches online only will be broadcast live to our fans. Dates will be announced shortly, along with tuning details. Call of Duty League has seen firsthand the power of our live events in our inaugural season, and it will once again be a competition in front of live audiences as soon as safely and logistically possible. ”
