Capcom does not close the door to more Street Fighter games on Nintendo Switch

The fifth installment remains as a PlayStation 4 exclusive on console, as Yoshinori Ono himself recalls.

It didn't start too well for Street Fighter V, but Capcom worked on new updates that have finally improved the gaming experience (with Champion Edition as a result). However, the title is not available on all platforms, since the Japanese company released it as a console exclusive on PlayStation 4. That means that the game was not marketed on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, which does not mean that the future of the saga is completely closed for other platforms, including the Kyoto system. At least that hints at Yoshinori Ono, who to date had served as producer of the franchise, in an interview with US Gamer.

“Since the Switch release, we have released Ultra Street Fighter II and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection for that platform. From a business point of view, those two titles were successful. We are seeing a lot of competitive games, including Smash Bros, that are working well on Switch, and players are enjoying those kinds of experiences on the system. ” According to Ono, if there is another opportunity and the proposal makes sense for Capcom, they may consider her again to host another of her titles.

What about Street Fighter V?

As far as Street Fighter V is concerned, it is currently a PS4 and PC exclusive. Still, as I mentioned before, we see Switch as an important platform for all kinds of video games, "concludes the developer. Therefore, hopes have not yet been completely buried, although everything will depend on multiple factors. Other video games from the company such as Resident Evil 7 or Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake have also not been published on Nintendo Switch.

On the future of Street Fighter in the new platforms, Yoshinori Ono recalls that, unlike other genres, perhaps the fight has not been used as much by new technologies for the genre to which it belongs. Despite this, he assures that they will try to use their power so that the players are benefited.
