Scott Dixon will not return to Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2027 IndyCar season, the team confirmed today.
Dixon’s Departure from CGR
The New Zealand driver, 45, has driven for CGR since 2003. Over 24 seasons he collected six championships—including a title in 2020—and captured 58 of his 59 career victories.
News outlets report that Dixon might join Arrow McLaren for 2027, but the racer has not yet issued an official statement. CGR’s owner, Chip Ganassi, said the team had offered Dixon a multi‑year contract to remain until his retirement.

Ganassi said, “Scott Dixon has recently informed the team that he will not be returning in 2027.” He added that the partnership had “defined the organization” and praised Dixon’s legacy before noting the offer was made “to give him the opportunity to finish his career at Chip Ganassi Racing.”
