The creators of The Messenger announce that Yasunori Mitsuda will be participating as a guest songwriter in their new production.

After the triumph of the Kickstarter for Sea of Stars, the project that works as a prequel to The Messenger, the developers have announced that they will have Yasunori Mitsuda as a guest composer. The musician, known for his scores in games such as Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears or Xenoblade Chronicles 2, will make his talent available to the studio.

In a statement posted on the Kickstarter page, Sabotage Studio has highlighted the figure of the composer. "It will help us convey the depth of the history of this fantastic world, while ensuring that its nostalgic roots are honored." The team claims that it is an "inspiration" for all of them. "Mitsuda represents exactly what Sea of Stars needs to be as a whole."

Compliments to Sabotage Studio

The musician, for his part, has also published some words, which reflect his great interest in being part of this project. "Without knowing exactly why, I had the feeling that I wanted to write music for this game," since it converges with the golden age of 90s RPGs. "Although there are still many games that are released in that classic style, I don't I think the players are satisfied only with nostalgia. As we saw in their previous video game, Sabotage Studio introduces fresh air to their work. "

Mitsuda has said he is "impressed" by the respect they have shown in their past games, titles that have been able to offer "new forms of fun." According to the composer, he really wanted to work together with Sabotage Studio.

Sea of Stars is set in the The Messenger universe, but changes its game system to that of a turn-based RPG. When will it be available? At the moment, there is no exact date, but it is going long. It is expected to be released on consoles and PCs in 2022.
