The saga, originally designed by the Spanish studio Pyro Studios, is in the hands of Kaylpso, a German company that launched Commandos 2 HD Remaster.
Kakypso Media is working on a new chapter in the Commandos saga. This was announced by Jürgen Reusswig, team manager Claymore Game Studios, an in-house developer of the German company, owners of the intellectual property since they were acquired in 2018. “We are very happy to confirm that we have managed to bring together both the core team and to those of the new offices in this short period of time ”, explains Reusswig. "We have started development and are looking forward to adding new talents to our team in the months ahead."
According to the director, this is an opportunity for employees who join the project to be part of the development of "this iconic strategy game." At the moment, no details have been offered about the video game, although it is hinted that it is still in the early stages of development. Nor has it been commented whether they will continue to be set in World War II or will choose a different setting.

The controversy with remastering
The first project developed by Kalypso Media was a revamped version of the classic Commandos 2. However, players soon discovered that there was a major change from the original version. The company that owns the rights decided to remove the political symbols, so none of the emblems of the Nazis or the Japanese Empire remained in that version.
On social networks, Kalypso assured that the decision was made out of moral responsibility. "In our view, it does not take away from the fun of the game that we use alternative symbols such as the Iron Cross." They also stressed that there will only be a single version "that will not incorporate symbols, portraits, speeches or resources that may break the law of many countries." According to the publisher, as a company they are "obliged" to adhere "to the law".
Commandos 2 HD Remaster is available on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
