After Netflix & Co., Sony is now also lowering the download speed in PSN to relieve the global Internet. Due to the corona pandemic, people are increasingly online these days, which leads to corresponding utilization.

In a statement, SIE President & CEO, Jim Ryan, explains that one wants to ensure the availability of the network at all costs. Therefore, all users now have to put something back and be content with slower download rates in the case of the PSN.

“By playing video games, players around the world can connect with friends and family and enjoy the much-needed entertainment in these uncertain times. Sony Interactive Entertainment works with Internet service providers in Europe to manage download traffic and ensure access for the entire Internet community.

We believe it is important to do our part to address Internet stability concerns as an unprecedented number of people practice social distancing and increasingly rely on Internet access.

Players may experience slightly slower or delayed game downloads, but still enjoy robust gameplay. We appreciate the support and understanding of our community and their contribution as we take these measures to ensure access for everyone. ”

In view of such measures, which are currently being implemented by almost all larger Internet companies, the good old disc is again extremely attractive.
