Dark Souls: how much has the saga sold?

The saga created by Hidetaka Miyazaki became famous for the difficulty, but has conquered millions of users worldwide.

"The Dark Souls of" has become a meme or a simple way to define the difficulty of something. The From Software saga, the study led by Hidetaka Miyazaki, has not only captivated international critics, but also millions of players around the world. Bandai Namco, the publishing company, has announced that the saga has already sold 27 million units among all its deliveries. And not everything is difficulty.

Although not all the figures are broken down, the Japanese company has revealed that Dark Souls III sold 10 million copies. These figures, which include the physical units, also include digital sales, a market that does nothing but grow annually. The Dark Souls series is comprised of Dark Soulds (2011), Dark Souls II (2014), Dark Souls II: Schollar of the First Sin (2015), Dark Souls III (2016) and Dark Souls: Remastered (2018). In addition to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, some of the titles have been enjoyed on PC and Nintendo Switch.

Future and past of the study

From Software commercialized in 2019 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a video game that mixes Japanese mythology with the history of samurai. Therefore, the Gothic designs that characterize the Dark Souls saga are left aside. What remains is the difficulty, since the studio has created a product that forces the player to learn from their mistakes and improve with each of the katana lunges.

The developer's future lies in a new intellectual property. This is Elden Ring, a production announced during E3 2019 that will resume the RPG facet. The game was born as a collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki's team and George R.R. Martin, author of the bestseller saga of A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones on television).
