Hideo Kojima's work goes through the filter of the first PlayStation and sports 32-bit graphics in this reimagined version.

If Death Stranding had come out in the 1990s, what would it look like? Many sure we have an image in the head, but that imagination is projected out of the hand of Narayana Walters, a developer who has been responsible for capturing that vision in a very short video of about 20 seconds. In the clip, in which Sam Porter Bridges appears – still recognizable, despite its pixelated appearance – we can see the rugged scenes of the time, full of sawtooth.

The ultra-realistic aspect of Death Stranding environments loses definition and other aspects along the way, but the humblest graphics do not prevent the identity of the game from being erased. During the time of the first PlayStation the dubbing began to become more frequent. Not surprisingly, Metal Gear Solid, also by Hideo Kojima, was one of the pioneering games in that regard, especially among the Spanish public.

Sam Porter's lonely road

To build his new work, which has a lot of staff, the Japanese creative explored inside to extract his feeling of loneliness and transmit it to the game and the player. The United States that portrays this videogame escapes conventions and focuses its attention on a broken and lonely world, where Sam Bridges is the perfect exponent of this loneliness.

He walks through hostile territory, with no more company than his BB and his packages. Along its long journeys, it goes from one point to another, distributes the merchandise and tries to connect each of the locations. Only in this way can the bond between people and society be restored.

Death Stranding is one of the great console exclusive of PlayStation 4. The title, candidate for Game of the Year (GOTY) in The Game Awards 2019, is also nominated for the Titanium Awards. It will be released on PC, although it will be done in early summer 2020.
