Death Stranding: Hideo Kojima will explain his design philosophy at the GDC 2020

The Japanese creative will participate in a talk and put on the table the concepts behind his most recent production.

Death Stranding has not left anyone indifferent. The title directed by Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, presumed to inaugurate a new genre, the Social Strand System, which refers to the multiplayer functions that connect players. Although the creative has spoken long and hard about the video game, it seems he still has things to say. The Japanese is one of the developers who will offer a conference at the Game Developers Conference 2020, which will be held from March 16 to 20.

As confirmed by the organization, Kojima will focus on the philosophy behind the design of Death Stranding. The title has been created as a single-player videogame, although the whole concept orbits connections, be it places or people. In that sense, the multiplayer side is integrated into the game alone and allows us to help other players. For example, building a bridge can serve another version of our character to cross an area without danger of falling into the river.

Sam Porter Bridges against all the elements

In the new Kojima Productions we handle Sam Porter Bridges, a man who moves from one place to another with the aim of delivering merchandise. It is, in essence, a delivery man. However, its functions go beyond that seemingly mundane task, since its duty will be to connect territories. Not surprisingly, the United States represented in the game is a dystopian version. Humanity is about to fall and stranded entities ring in nature.

Although the multiplayer system was outlined with the idea that players felt the need to help others, sometimes these mechanics have been used to cause discomfort. Some users decided to abandon vehicles at the entrance of a cave, so that it was impossible to enter. In these cases, the team made the decision to allow the elimination of other people's vehicles.

Death Stranding is available on PS4 and will be released on PC in early summer 2020.
