Destiny 2: Bungie will eliminate the sale of loot boxes: they won't sell random content

The North American company announces its plan to eliminate loot boxes with random content, the Bright Engrams, for Season 10.

Bungie has announced that they will permanently eliminate the loot boxes of Destiny 2. The popular video game, which lives one of its best moments after the latest expansions and updates, will get rid of the direct sale (in-game) of the Bright Engrams, some Loot boxes with content governed by randomness.

"We want players to know what things cost before buying them"

Those of Seattle, in a movement focused on transparency towards their community of players, has issued a statement explaining the reason for this decision, where from now on all the microtransactions will be concrete, tangible and express: nobody will not know what is what are you buying.

What will remain, however, are the loot boxes in the form of rewards of the free to play version; that is, there will be loot boxes as a reward, never as an express purchase with real money.

"We want players to know what things cost before buying them," says Luke Smith, a member of Bungie, in the statement released Tuesday, which reflects on the current status of Destiny 2. All these developments, which directly affect the title depreciation design, will become effective when Season 10 premieres this March 10.

Bungie is not the first company to reverse the aggressive microtransaction policy based on the randomness of recent months. Epic Games, Pyonix, Capcom, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have made equivalent movements in recent times; in parallel, it is possible to say, to the governmental decisions of the main western countries. In the specific case of Spain, the current PSOE-United Podemos Coalition Government is promoting actions to control and intervene in the loot boxes of video games by being classified as gambling or gambling, as stated by the current Minister of Consumption, Alberto Garzón

Destiny 2 is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Google Stadia. You can check all the news of the Season of the Worthy, which starts this March 10, in this link.
