Destiny 2 will remove content, but will add new and old ones

Bungie has revealed the future of the video game, which goes through new expansions instead of a third installment of the saga.

Destiny 2’s future is assured. Bungie has uncovered part of his plans, which includes a new expansion, which will come out on September 22. Beyond the light, she will not be the only one to see the light (redundancy worth it), because in 2021 the Witch Queen is planned and in 2022 another expansion that is still known by its code name, Eclipse. Meanwhile, the study is aware that the title has become too large, so they have proposed reducing its size and implementing a system that allows old content to be recovered.

This is Destiny Content Vault, a system that will remove content from the past such as locations or raids, while adding other old elements. One of the confirmed is the Vault of Glass raid, from the first Destiny, which will come out sometime in Season 4. The study has reported the farewell of four planets that can be visited today, Mars, Mercury, Tiran and Io. Players will not be able to land on them or participate in any missions that take place at those locations.

The old can come back

“Storing content” will allow them to “make room for amazing new things,” says Luke Smith, director of Destiny 2. “Every year when a new expansion comes out, there will be things that disappear. And we are going to be very clear about what the game will leave ”, he promises. The disappearance of a specific content does not necessarily mean that it will never return. On his website, Bungie points to the possibility of a comeback, albeit perhaps alternately to fit within the universe. “We are going to revisit some of the most interesting places in Destiny’s history.”

The goal is to control Destiny 2’s scale to ease its size “for the sake of increasing” its ability to keep the game in the best possible condition. “Over the years, the scale of content will grow,” so when the new expansion comes out, other old content will be stored.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be available on all current platforms, namely PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. It will also be updated on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
