Following the presentation of the trailer for the third season of the Castlevania animation series for Netflix, new information about future animated adaptations now arrives directly from the video game industry. So much so, that two popular Blizzard franchises such as Diablo and Overwatch could soon have their own animated adaptations; This follows from the official information of the Linkedin profile of Nick van Dyk, co-chair of the audiovisual department of Activision Blizzard.
Two new animated video game adaptations
Thus, and according to the professional profile of the manager, Activision Blizzard would already have very advanced projects to bring to the small screen two IPs as famous as Diablo and Overwatch, under a style similar to Castlevania for Netflix. And it is that Nick van Dyk himself is defined as “executive producer of Diablo, a television adaptation of the Blizzard Entertainment IP, made in anime style”, a series that is scheduled to be distributed worldwide through Netflix.
In the case of Overwatch there is less information or, at least, not as clear as Diablo's; Thus, in reference to the popular Blizzard hero shooter it is clarified that an animated series based on the Blizzard Overwatch franchise has been developed and sold, without specifying distribution platform or status of its level of development, although everything seems to indicate that it would arrive also to Netflix.
Without knowing much more about both projects, they would be the ideal complement for the next releases of both Diablo IV and Overwatch 2, both titles without a specific launch date, although they should arrive this year on desktop platforms, the first of them as the return of the dungeon crawler saga par excellence and the second with the addition of having narrative missions in the style of history mode.
