Azucena reviews characters, stories and landscapes to explain the influence of Norse mythology in the world of video games
This month Azucena says goodbye to the year with Viking strength and the best games that speak of Norse mythology that is so fashionable and that we have been able to see in titles such as Assasin’s Creed Valhalla, to name one of the most recent.
In the same title of the Ubisoft game we are told about Valhalla, the hall of the fallen. According to this mythology it was a huge room located in Asgard, one of the nine kingdoms of Yggdrasil, where the Aesir, the Norse gods ruled by Odin, live. In Valhalla, half of the dead in combat chosen by Odin and guided by the Valkyries gather, the other half will go with Freyja to the Folkvangr. In this majestic hall the heroes prepare to fight alongside Odin in Ragnarök, the battle of the end of the world, in which it is written that Thor dies when confronting Jörmundgander, the Midgar serpent and one of Loki’s sons.
