Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced the death of Dennis Reinbold, 65, who had steered the team since its IndyCar inception in 2000.
The Indianapolis‑based owner, a lifelong resident, oversaw a roster that has entered every Indy 500 this century and earned one race victory and two pole positions.
“Dennis was a proud son of Indianapolis,” the team’s statement read, adding that he had built a network of car dealerships across the state and that his devotion to the Speedway had driven a daily pursuit of an Indy 500 win.
2026 Indy 500 Campaign
DRR entered two cars for the 2026 111th Indy 500: Conor Daly finished 12th and Jack Harvey, driving a Chevrolet, finished 22nd.
Broader Motorsport Success
Beyond IndyCar, the organization has claimed two Nitrocross championships, a Global Rallycross title, and more than 30 podiums across rally disciplines.
Dennis’s legacy will continue to inspire the team as it seeks redemption at the iconic track.
