Bandai Namco confirms that the title needs more time. A complete review of the development process is used, with difficulties.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has reported that Digimon Survive is delayed indefinitely. The game, originally planned for consoles and PCs in 2020, now has a "still to be determined" date, according to Ryokutya, due to a general review process in development.
It is not the first time that the title has been delayed and it is not the first time that possible complications have crept into the development of the work. Kazumasa Habu, producer of the title, explained a few months ago on Twitter that the first delay of the game (when it was reported that it would not arrive in 2019 but in 2020) was due to "a reorganization in the structure of the development of the game" and pronounced, likewise , "Difficulties" in the process.
This new installment of the saga will mix different genres to adapt as SRPG. On the one hand, the gameplay will have dungeons designed based on a turn-based strategy game in grids; although there will also be research phases in the purest point and click adventure style.
We know that the game will arrive in Europe, as confirmed by Bandai Namco, and it will do so with really careful production values on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The characters are designed by Uichi Ukumo, while the music is provided by Tomoki Miyoshi. According to the official synopsis: "It is the story of a group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, who get lost on a school camping trip and end up being transported to a new world of monsters full of dangers."
The most recent installments in the franchise, released on PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch, were the turn-based RPG Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its sequel, Hacker's Memory (on Nintendo Switch combining both versions), which we rated FreeGameTips with an 8 , 2 and 8.7, respectively. Recently, we have learned that the Digimon Adventure anime (2020) paralyzes its broadcasts on television and VOD platforms due to the coronavirus crisis.
