Square Enix has announced a new spin off based on the Dragon Quest saga for mobile devices: Dragon Quest Tact. The title, which will be launched under a free to play business model with microtransactions, will arrive in Japan this year 2020 for iOS and Android terminals.

According to the first information shared, Dragon Quest Tact will be a tactical RPG where players can develop strategies, teams and fight battles in turn with the characters known to all fans of the series. It will include elements of the genre and the saga itself, so you do not expect many surprises at the playable level, only adapted to mobile interfaces and simplified to focus the gameplay in battles. The monsters will be recreated in three dimensions represented on a grid map.
The general manager of the project, despite its spin off nature, is Yuji Horii, father of the series, while Akira Toriyama is once again responsible for giving color and shape to the design of the monsters. Kouichi Sugiyama is confirmed as responsible for musical work under a development run by the Aiming studio.
This Japanese studio, expert in mobile video games in the Asian market, has signed works such as Logres Stories, Blade Chronicle, Valiant Legion and Caravan Stories, the latter for PlayStation 4.
Dragon Quest Tact already has an official website and Twitter account, where they will be offering news in both graphic materials and gameplay and the future release date of the title. For now, they have not transcended details about a possible arrival of the game to the western market.
The Dragon Quest saga is experiencing an excellent state after the success of Dragon Quest XI for PS4 and PC plus its expanded version for Nintendo Switch, a title that has managed to penetrate both critically and publicly across the planet.
