DualSense Controller for PS5 – developers are thrilled (update)

Playfront

Yesterday evening, Sony unveiled the new DualSense controller for the PS5, which is also received by the developers with “pure enthusiasm”.

This is evident from statements by Ready at Dawn and Naughty Dog, among others, who of course could already try out the controller. If you are already enthusiastic about the DualSense, you should also wait until you have really felt it.

Andrea Pessino from Ready at Dawn says for example:

“This controller is just amazing – just wait until you feel it. And I mean that literally! ”

Naughty Dog’s Audio Lead, Robert Krekel, goes into the built-in speaker, which is also supported by the Tempest Engine and the 3D audio. He sees this as a “cool opportunity” to really use the feature. With the DS4 controller this was unfortunately far too rarely the case.

“We had a great opportunity to innovate with the PS5 by giving game developers the opportunity to find out how they could enhance that sense of immersion with our new controller. For this reason, we have developed haptic feedback that creates a variety of strong sensations that you will feel when playing, e.g. B. the slow roughness when driving through mud. We also have adaptive triggers built into the DualSense L2 and R2 buttons so you can really feel the tension of your actions. ”

It will certainly be exciting to see what the controller will cost in detail. Experience has shown that due to all the technology in it, it should become more expensive again.

Update: In the meantime there is also a statement by Bethesdas Pete Hines, who is clearly enthusiastic about the features of the DualSense. For him, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and the create button are the things that make a real next-gen controller.
