Electronic Arts announces the name change for its subscription service for video games on demand as of August 18.

Electronic Arts has announced that its two on-demand video game subscription services, EA Access and EA Origin Access, will share the same name: EA Play. This has been announced by the company through an official statement, confirming that the new nomenclature will be effective as of August 18, 2020. So much so, that both services will be known from that date as EA Play, releasing also new design.

The EA Play event is renamed EA Play Live

Likewise, EA’s premium service, Origin Access Premier, will be known as EA Play Pro on the 18th, adapting its name to the new nomenclature. Beyond this merger in the names of EA’s services, the rest of their characteristics will remain unchanged, including the different subscription models per platform.

The benefits of each service, on the other hand, will also remain intact, as is the case with EA Vault, a catalog of EA titles offered in exchange for a monthly subscription, as well as early access to a selection of new video games, discounts and more.

All this change in the names of EA services has a single objective; According to the company, “EA Play puts you at the center of the experience. Bringing all the benefits into one brand is an important step in optimizing our services and ensuring that being a member of EA Play is the best way to play. ” Or what is the same, make things easier for users, since the characteristics of the different EA services are practically the same except at the catalog level and available platforms.

Finally, EA has also announced that the now classic event of each E3, EA Play, will now be called EA Play Live, in order to differentiate itself from the services that have just received the same name.
