The move will be temporary, but will be imposed to encourage players to activate this extra protection.
After the hacking of more than 160,000 Nintendo accounts, there is little precaution. The Japanese company has recommended that all users activate two-step authentication (2FA), something that also wants to encourage the Epic Games Store. The Fortnite creators store has announced that from now until May 21 it will be necessary to verify the account with this additional protection when claiming the free games. "We are making this change to encourage our players to strengthen the security of their Epic account," says the company in an update published in the store.
If you have not activated two-step authentication on your account, you will receive a message when you try to claim a free video game: "Two-step authentication is required." In this way, everyone who wants to receive their games must enable this function, which "helps prevent unauthorized access from occurring."
Beginning today, we will periodically require two-factor authentication prior to claiming free games on the Epic Games Store.

Epic Games Store gives away new video games every Thursday.
