Bethesda today gives a foretaste of Update 16 in 'Fallout 76', the last major patch this year. You can also look forward to a Free Trial Weekend, a Double EP Event, the Holiday Burning Event and a double half dozen Christmas Nuclear Winter Challenges.
From the 12th of December you can face the wild Appalachia and play Fallout 76 for free for a short time during the new Free Trial Weekend. The new Wastelanders content is left out, but you get access to the complete basic game.
Details about the Free Trial Weekend:
- Start: Thursday, December 12th, 5:00 pm CET
- End: Monday, December 16, 6:00 pm CET
- Note for console players: Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus are required to play Fallout 76 during the Free Trial Weekend.
Double EP Event
At the same time as Free Trial Weekend, a new Double EP Event will be held for all game modes. When quitting, exploring the world, or denying a few nuclear winter matches, you can climb twice as fast. Whether you prefer to go on an adventurous journey alone or with a few friends, the tight conditions of Vault 76 behind you – there was never a better time to go to the wastelands.
Christmas surprise
Some Burns in Appalachia are in a festive mood and have presents with them! From the 12th of December you can go hunting as soon as you see a festively dressed Burned or hear his terribly cheerful tinkling. Every "Holiday Burning" you do leaves a Christmas present for you. Gifts can be low, medium or high quality and contain everything from lumps of coal to rare blueprints and recipes. You'll also get some wrapping paper so you can make some Christmas gifts for fellow Vault residents yourself.

Even more holiday mood
After the start of Update 16 you can get a free Santatron bot from the Atomic Shop for a short time. Build in your C.A.M.P. the Santatron station, and the bot will roam the neighborhood to collect nice little things for you, like sweets, toys, or coal. And even better: During the Holiday-Burning Event, your Santatron will occasionally give you a Christmas gift of random quality.
