Fernando Alonso let his son, Leonard, take an early lap in a go‑kart when the baby was only two months old.
Father‑hood Meets Fast‑Lanes
During a Spanish radio interview, the 45‑year‑old Aston Martin driver explained how he strapped his infant onto a small racing track and wrapped the two months old in his arms for a brief, wind‑tinged ride.
He added that Leonard, now six months, is quick to smile, according to Alonso, and the family enjoys moments at home that offset the demands of a demanding F1 calendar.
Contractual Continuity at Aston Martin
Alonso has secured a deal that keeps him in the Silverstone outfit through the end of 2027, bringing him into a season where the team faces new challenges: a Honda power unit and a car designed by Adrian Newey.
After an early introduction of a B‑spec model at the Hungarian Grand Prix and subsequent upgrades, the team is positioned 10th in the constructors’ standings, with only three points to show.
Future Scoutings on the Track
He noted, “Next year I want to share the circuits, the trips around the world, and take lots of photos with him.” He observes that once his F1 career ends, the 24‑country travel schedule will grind to a halt, potentially offering more family time.
Alonso said, “When I leave Formula 1, it’s clear I’m not going to be traveling to 24 countries every year, am I? So, hopefully I can share a little more with him.”
The pair celebrated their first child in March 2026 with partner Melissa Jimenez. The driver emphasized that, despite professional uncertainties, that smiley baby is the very real highlight of his days.
