EA Sports publishes the steps it will take to combat racism, xenophobia and homophobia in the online communities of FIFA, Madden, NBA and more.
EA Sports has released a statement detailing the steps they will take to protect their online environments from racism and social exclusion. Whether through FIFA, Madden or NBA Live, the North American company will maintain a strong position against those who show irresponsible conduct against others.
In the message, EA Sports says they must “do more” to “eliminate those individuals who engage in racist, xenophobic and homophobic behavior” in their games. Therefore, they announce three specific steps that they will take immediately:
“We have been reviewing our list of terms to ensure that our filter is comprehensive and includes multiple languages, dialects and slang. We will expand and review these filters regularly. ”
“We are adding more tools within the game to increase reporting capabilities and thus make it easier and more intuitive to report toxic behaviors. Our teams will also do so in order to eliminate the content and those who offend. ”
“Due to the high volume of toxic behaviors within our games, we have increased the frequency of reviews with the aim of acting faster when eliminated in our games. We want to add more resources dedicated exclusively to this topic so that our teams can deal with problems. ”

This is only part of the actions that the team will take throughout this 2020 and the future. “We are also reviewing the policies and steps we can take across our entire gaming portfolio and will share more details in the coming weeks,” they conclude.
There have been more than a few companies that have taken sides against the protests of the African American and black race. Infinity Ward discussed the steps she would take in front of her community, as well as including a reminder before starting each game in Call of Duty: Warzone. On the other hand, Rockstar Games stopped the activity of GTA Online and Red Dead Online for two hours in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
