Final Fantasy VII Remake: his screenwriter says that expanding the script was "exciting"

He acknowledges, however, that fear also gripped him, because before the imagination was used to complete certain gaps.

Square Enix has already started work on the second episode of Final Fantasy VII Remake, but in the meantime, the Japanese company has revealed new details about the first installment. It was confirmed that the narrative and the characters would be reinforced, but the title will incorporate unpublished final bosses. This was confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura himself on the official company website. On the other hand, Katsushige Nojima, screenwriter, has talked about Cloud and about the process of expanding the script, something that has seemed "exciting."

“Introducing news in Final Fantasy VII Remake has been an exciting task, but at the same time, there was some fear. The original game used the cartoon style and stylized art, and the story was completed by the players using their imagination and supplying the portions that were left to their interpretation. According to Nojima, even if they were watching the same scene, they interpreted it differently. "Maybe, it should be considered a form of narrative."

The remake marks a change in the narrative

However, in this remake, "there will be much less room for the player's imagination," he acknowledges. “This fact probably changes the sensations of the story considerably. People who know the original may not know how to take it. That is the fear I have. But I also have convictions. ” The creative believes that the connection of players with Cloud is going to be very strong.

Nojima also recalls what he thought when he first saw the new version of Cloud, which did not resemble that of Advent Children. "He's a fierce-looking young boy who looked at me across the screen with aggressive eyes." To mold it into the narrative, the screenwriter "revisited the experiences he had [Cloud] in his life until then and thought about how each of the individual events that were going to happen would affect him." He imagined the Midgar scene in his mind and saw him move through the city. Thus emerged new lines of dialogue for Cloud.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is under development exclusively for PS4. Its launch is scheduled for March 3, 2020.
