Final Fantasy VII Remake: “Maybe you will discover aspects of the characters 23 years later”

Square Enix redefines the classic and expands its history with a new interpretation of the events narrated more than two decades ago.

That Final Fantasy VII Remake does not follow the original story of the classic to the letter is inevitable. Far from offering only an improvement in its graphics, the team has decided to go further and explore the recesses of the plot with new dialogues and scenes, allowing a different approach, which gives new nuances to the protagonists. Producer Yoshinori Kitase, in an interview with the Washington Post, explained that players will discover aspects of the characters' personality that they could not perceive in the original.

"The original game didn't include any facial expressions or voices, so we had no choice but to use a comic book-like approach, with exaggerated full-body expressions," says Kitase. “For the remake, the detailed facial expressions and wonderful dubbing help to represent the inner thoughts and emotions of the main characters. You may think you know Cloud and the other characters, but there could be revelations of their personalities that you may discover 23 years later. ”

Why does it weigh 100 GB?

One of the surprising points is the space required for the installation of the video game on the hard drive. The title, which comes in two Blu-Rays, contains an exclusive disc with the data of the game. According to the company, they used their own resources in each of the locations, which includes textures, music and other assets that are not recycled. Thus, this feature has increased the size of the files.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is scheduled for April 10, at least as regards its launch in digital format. As Square Enix itself confirmed, due to the coronavirus, they decided to send the physical copies in advance. So many of the players who pre-ordered the boxed edition have been enjoying the game for days now. It has not yet been announced if there will be a Day One patch at the official launch. Currently the version is still 1.0.0.
