Square Enix currently points out that future updates in ‘Final Fantasy XIV’ will be delayed due to the corona pandemic.
Game Director and producer Naoki Yoshida writes this to fans that Tokyo headquarters will fall into the emergency zone, forcing the team to do their work from home. As this changeover takes some time, the plans for new updates are also postponed.
This means: “The development and test phase for patch 5.25 was part of the development cycle for the large patch 5.2, so all final adjustments and checks were already completed and we were able to release patch 5.25 as planned. However, the last phase of 5.25 was actually in the period of the first measures, namely working from home or even being on call for part of our team. In the end, we were only able to publish on time.
“When developing FINAL FANTASTY XIV, we work with companies from all over the world and our patch schedule is immensely affected by the current situation. Patch 5.3, which should be released in mid-June, will therefore be released with a certain delay. It could be two, three weeks or even a month, but it is difficult to make a precise statement given the situation.
We sincerely apologize to you, our players. We know how excited you are for a new patch. But we do not want to compromise on the quality of our patches and of course put the health of our development and management team first. With this in mind, we are closely monitoring the situation and adjusting our schedule accordingly. Thank you very much for your understanding. ”
In general, you are in good spirits that you can continue to operate Final Fantasy XIV as usual, even if minor problems cannot be ruled out. You can read the full article on this at this link.
