Leonardo Fornaroli will hit Jerez’s track for a two‑day test in a former Haas Formula 1 vehicle, a move that could pave the way for a 2027 drive.
Fornaroli Trials Haas After McLaren Debut
The 21‑year‑old Formula 2 champion is scheduled to power the Spanish circuit on Wednesday and Thursday, a follow‑up to his recent FP1 appearance with McLaren at Barcelona, where he fared fifth and was just 0.8 seconds shy of George Russell.
“Fornaroli’s attitude, speed and consistency make him an asset for Formula 1,” Andrea Stella, McLaren development driver, remarked. “We’re open to him driving for McLaren in the future, but we’re also exploring all available opportunities.”
Haas Testing Highlights
The test will feature the previous‑season model, giving Fornaroli a realistic feel of the car’s handling and power delivery. Haas’s reserve driver, American driver Ryo Hirakawa, is also slated to take part, adding depth to the test’s competitive angle.
