Ghost of Tsushima is inspired by Zelda and Shadow of the Colossus: new details

A recent interview with the creative director of the new Sucker Punch video game reveals new details of its world, gameplay and soundtrack.

A few days ago, Ghost of Tsushima presented a gameplay of almost 20 minutes through a new State of Play focused on the next Sucker Punch video game, discovering numerous previously unpublished details. Now, and thanks to the interview conducted by the French youtuber Julien Chièze to the creative director of the title, Jason Connell, we know new information as curious as that Ghost of Tsushima is inspired by sagas like The Legend of Zelda or titles like Shadow of the Colossus; let's find out more.

New information about your feudal world

Thus, Jason Connell himself ensures that the creative team of Sucker Punch has been inspired by the artistic direction of sagas as famous as The Legend of Zelda or videogames as influential as Shadow of the Colossus when it comes to capturing the universe of feudal Japan that we are getting to know little by little. In this sense, he affirms that immersion is very important and that we can even hunt animals to give that touch of realism that they seek, although in practice it has no effect.

On the other hand, the direct mechanics and hardly any animations of the collection of materials on horseback of shining objects have been designed in this way so that the rhythm of the adventure is not broken, although they do not maintain the realistic tone of other aspects of the video game. As for combat, with each blow to an enemy a bar will be recharged that will allow the protagonist to perform various actions, including restoring their health.

During the exploration of the world, characters will appear that will offer us side missions and that will promote new story arcs, in a very natural way, as stated by the creator of Sucker Punch. In addition, we can unlock numerous outfits for Jin, either through the progress of the adventure itself or by buying them in stores, among other options.

Finally, the soundtrack is provided by the composer Shigeru Umebayashi, author of numerous songs from the Tekken saga, with the collaboration of Ilan Eshkeri. Ghost of Tsushima will hit the stores on July 17 as one of the great PS4 exclusives of this 2020, along with The Last of Us Part 2.
