God of War Announces New Comic Series; first picture and details

Dark Horse will be in charge of editing this official Sony publication with Kratos as the protagonist. It will be called God of War: Fallen God.

God of War: Fallen God is the name of the new official God of War comic series. From Sony Interactive Entertainment, in collaboration with the American publisher Dark Horse, they have announced this new line of comic books in full color set in the universe of the Sony Santa Monica franchise. We already have the first details and official promotional image.

June 24 in the United States: located after God of War III

As ComicBook anticipates, Dark Horse Comics will edit God of War: Fallen God, a work written by Chris Roberson (iZombie, God of War), drawn by artist Tony Parker (God of War, This Damned Band) and Dan Jackson in the brushes (The Strain, The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys). Finally, the story script is provided by John Roshell (Overwatch Anthology, Astro City).

At the contextual level, this comic enters the universe of God of War, so like the spinoffs for PSP, other official comics or the work that came out on mobile devices more than a decade ago, this work will be located in the time axis, specifically between God of War III and God of War (PS4).

It has not been revealed whether the story will be canonical or not, but it is contemplated within that chronology known through the video game: it is the same Kratos. The image that accompanies this news will be the cover of the first volume —the path the new series will take is unknown—, an illustration signed by artist Dave Rapoza. As we see in his professional web profile, he is a Marvel enthusiast, among other fictional universes like Destiny.

The comic will narrate Kratos' expertise after the battles against Zeus and Athena; a lonely path where the protagonist will try to distance himself from everything and collide with his own anger. "Kratos faces the only enemy that has proven invincible: himself," we read in the official description. "But a force against oneself cannot be won."

God of War: Fallen God will debut in American comic stores and department stores this June 24. It is unknown if Spain will receive a translated version. Its director, Cory Barlog, has recently stated that he would like to see a television adaptation of the saga, although for now it is only a wish.

Meanwhile, Sony Santa Monica is already working on its next video game; They seek to incorporate into their offices an expert in martial arts and who has "knowledge of God of War".
