God of War: Kratos was going to have a playable daughter according to a concept art

The Santa Monica Studio artists share concept art of the first God of War designs, which were to have a playable daughter of Kratos.

God of War could have had a warrior daughter of Kratos as the main playable character if he had taken forward the conceptual art that Santa Monica Studio has shared on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. Among the conceptual art that we can find, there are curiosities that range from an epic design of Kratos on a napkin to ideas for a “Amazon Warrior” for Gof of War Ascension, by an old concept artist named Erik San Juan. On the other hand, Sony Santa Monica are currently looking for martial arts experts for a job in which they are engaged.

What could have been God of War

In the Playstation blog linked below, we find the statements of these artists, who accompany their art with some words and explanations. According to former conceptual artist Erik San Juan, to draw the Amazon Warrior of God of War: Ascension was based on drawings of a character who should be Kratos' daughter:

"With the mysterious destiny of Kratos at the end of God of War 3, we knew we wanted to give him a successor, a new hero who would go looking for him," Juan details. "Not very different from the most recent entry in the series, we imagined that I had a hidden daughter and we began to sketch ideas of how it would look … Here is my only contribution to the team with a tattoo design on the face. Once that we were clear that we would bring Kratos back in a prequel, these designs would evolve into the Amazon Warrior we see in Ascension. "

Specifically, these designs emerged about eight years before little Atreus was a reality, so things could have been very different. On the other hand, we can also find other concepts that include the battle of Kratos and Poseidon, sketches of Icarus and the initial design of the character of Kratos on a paper napkin.
