Take-Two updates the sales of its star video game, free until the afternoon of May 21 through the Epic Games Store in its version for PC.
Take-Two Interactive presented this Wednesday, during the meeting with its group of shareholders, the financial results corresponding to the last fiscal year ended March 31 (Q4 / FY2020). The North American company has revealed that, until this April, GTA 5 has already sold more than 130 million units worldwide; 10 million copies more during this quarter.

Another way of interpreting this data is that in 2020 alone (from January 1 to March 31) more than 10 million copies are added between physical and digital sales. In other words, a rate of more than 3 million copies per month. And no, the downloads of the free version for PC that is being given until 17:00 on May 21 through the Epic Games Store are not contemplated.

In total, the Grand Theft Auto saga brings together more than 325 million units sold; with a percentage of 40% corresponding only to this fifth numbered episode of the license. These results, added to the continued sales of works such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Borderlands 3, NBA 2K20 and Civilization VI, added to the online game modes with GTA and Red Dead microtransactions, have allowed Take-Two's total turnover amount to $ 3,089 million; a 16% growth compared to the immediately previous year.
Likewise, the effective average income of each player, the expense of each in-game user, has grown by 29%. According to the company, 45% of total revenues correspond to microtransactions. During that same meeting, those in New York have confirmed that they will launch a total of 93 video games (SKU, all versions of each title are counted) between now and the next five years, with almost half of them corresponding to new intellectual properties.
