GTA Online coming to PS5 with a standalone version, in 2021

Rockstar confirms that a standalone and variously enhanced version of GTA Online is coming to PlayStation 5 in the second half of 2021.

The PlayStation 5 launch event kicked off with the news that Grand Theft Auto V is also coming to Sony’s new generation of consoles, PlayStation 5, with a graphically enhanced version. Rockstar has expanded this information by detailing that GTA Online will also land on PS5 during the second half of the year 2021. In addition, players of this online version on PS4 who have an active subscription to PlayStation Plus will have the opportunity to receive 1,000,000 GTA $ for each month they play (money will be deposited into their Maze Bank accounts within a maximum of 72 hours).

GTA V, more alive than ever after three generations

The fifth installment of the Grand Theft Auto saga was back on everyone’s lips recently due to being available for free for a time at the Epic Games Store. The crazy adventure of Trevor, Michael and Franklin has already survived three generations of consoles since, we remember, GTA V was first released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 and relaunched on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as on PC. As detailed in an official statement from Rockstar:

“The new generation versions of GTA V will include all sorts of technical, visual and performance enhancements that will take full advantage of the technological benefits this hardware offers to make the game better visually and more interactive than ever.”

As for GTA Online, it is a complement to the original game that has ended up forming an ecosystem full of passionate players. From the company in charge they assure that they will continue updating the title and adding exclusive content for both the PC version and the new consoles. As for the standalone version of GTA Online that will arrive in the second half of 2021, “it will be available exclusively and free of charge for PlayStation 5 players for the first three months.”
