PlayStation's personal carousel continues to revolve these days after it was announced recently that Shawn Layden is vacating his post. Now, Guerilla Games' Hermen Hulst has been named Head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios.

So far, Shuhei Yoshida has held this post, focusing primarily on the 14 internal first-party studios. Shuhei Yoshida's task in the future is to look after smaller indie studios to pick up on their ideas and eventually transfer them to major productions.

"Hermen is a European who will take over one of PlayStation's key offices," said PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan. "I think everyone in Europe should be excited and happy and proud that this happens."

Hulst adds:

"I've been working closely with PlayStation and the entire Worldwide Studios family since 2001 and have the greatest respect and admiration for the creative talent and ambitious ideas in the network of studios in the US, Europe and Japan."

Yoshida's new position also states:

"Everyone knows how passionate Shu is for independent games – they are the lifeblood of the industry, which makes our content portfolio so special for our gamers. These unbelievably creative experiences deserve special attention, and a champion like Shu from PlayStation will ensure that the entire SIE organization works together to work better with independent developers through a culture of supporting their contributions to PlayStation platforms. "
