Voluntary march

After more than a decade of being part of the Japanese giant, Tabata-san presented his voluntary resignation in October 2018. “Every game I have participated in has meant a lot to me; However, Final Fantasy XV is a remarkably special project because I gave it my all, ”he commented shortly after the news broke.

After working on a multitude of projects linked to the Final Fantasy brand, he was not only the final director of the fifteenth numbered installment, but also led other projects such as Type-0, his remastering and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The list is extended when entering production work with projects dedicated to mobile platforms.

At the edge of 2019, he said he would change the way he would work on his new team compared to what he lived in Square Enix. “I'm going to change the way we do things, through the cloud, for example. I want to evolve the method we use to develop, ”he explains. He clarified that they would establish themselves as “a small team”, although at that time he did not reveal any of his plans that today, at least, seems to be clearer.
