Half-Life: Alyx offers new details with a new gameplay

From the YouTube channel Tested they bring us new images of the expected Half-Life: Alyx, the virtual reality title that Valve will bring to VR devices.

The Tested team (known as Adam Savage’s Tested on YouTube) had the opportunity to play about three or four hours of Half-Life: Alyx. In addition, they point out how they tested the game on eight different VR devices. Thanks to this gameplay we can find out new details about Valve's proposal, which will come as a surprise so long after a large number of players asked for a new installment of the Gordon Freeman saga.

What do we know about Half-Life Alyx?

From what we can see, in the game we can collect boxes and break them on the ground, just as we did in the original games thanks to the famous Half Life flagship weapon. As for conventional weapons, it seems to work effectively on the screen: when it is fired, it instantly strikes whatever we are pointing at. To achieve this, a VR device whose controls are accurate will be required and since about 15 hours of play have been promised, according to the Tested team, we will want the VR headphones to be comfortable. "You don't want to have neck pain," says Will Smith of Tested.

This is discussed because the recharge mechanics in Half-Life Alyx means that it requires that we raise our arms to the back of the head, pick up a magazine, release the empty magazine of our weapon, insert the new one and place the slide with One button or with the other remote. "If the top of the VR controls are too big, we can't get close enough to do it," says Smith. To this complicated maneuver is added the fact that we will only have a fraction of a second to achieve these maneuvers, since the game is going at a dizzying pace, with enemies that are launched against us quite quickly. That means that the VR device we choose is vital in order to master Half-Life: Alyx.

We remind you that Half-Life: Alyx will be released in March 2020, when virtual reality users will be able to prove first-hand what Valve has prepared.
