Half-Life: Alyx won't be the end, according to Valve

The new installment of the saga is a video game designed specifically for virtual reality, so it cannot be played in a traditional way.

Half-Life 3 became a legend, the game that never was, but was always on the horizon. After years of silence, the third main installment is still in limbo, sleeping, but the saga will rise from the hand of Half-Life: Alyx, a game designed for virtual reality that will not be the goodbye of the saga. At least that is what Valve thinks, the company behind the project, which sees Alyx as a revival of the award-winning franchise.

In an interview with Game Informer, Robin Walker, of Valve, has stated that the series means a lot to them and that the reconnection that has occurred with the development of Alyx is "incredibly rewarding." The study is convinced that this return to the world of Half-Life will not be the last: “There are members of the Half-Life: Alyx team that have been in Valve since Half-Life 2, and a few that come from the original”, Walker has said. “There are also people from the team for which Half-Life: Alyx is their first time working on the series, and many of them are hopeful that it is not the last. We see Half-Life: Alyx as a return to that world, not the end of it. ”

A complete experience

The North American company reaffirms the importance of the new production, which will offer a narrative as worked as any other game in the series. Half-Life: Alyx is a delivery with all of the law, "both in terms of the amount of content and the importance and substance of his narrative in relation to the rest of the series," confirms Walker. "It is a critical part of a larger story," but it advances the argument and the stories that are told.

Half-Life: Alyx is scheduled for March 23 on Steam VR, PC. It will be compatible with Valve Index VR, HTC VIVE Oculus Rift and the rest of virtual reality glasses that work on the Valve platform.
