Halo Wars 2 will not receive new content and do not plan a third installment

Although nothing is planned, 343 Industries does not bury all hopes and says that “never say never”.

Earlier in the week, a job posting posted by Microsoft was misinterpreted. 343 Industries was thought to be working on a second game in the Halo series. However, the developer followed the rumors to clarify that they were referring to Infinite, the new main title. In a recent update to the official blog, John Junyszek, the studio’s community manager, also stated that Halo Wars 3 is not among the company’s plans; Nor will they design more content for the second installment of this RTS sub-series.

Emphasis on the adverb “currently”

“343 Industries does not currently plan to work on Halo Wars 2, which includes content updates, balance patches, the release of the title on other platforms, or a new game in the series. We will continue to analyze the game to make sure that everything works as it should, “he says. Junyszek has used the word “currently” consciously because “it is the truth.” All in all, he ensures that they will never say never. He gives an example of the case of Halo: The Master Chief Collection: “If they told me years ago that the entire MCC would come to Steam or that Halo 3 would be updated 14 years after its launch, I would never have believed it. And here we are ”.

The 343 Industries community manager is aware that waiting for an official response is “frustrating”, so they have preferred to go straight “and relieve” those who wondered if there would be a new Halo Wars underway. They want it to be clear that they are not “working on Halo Wars.”

343 Industries concentrates all its efforts on Halo Infinite, a game that Microsoft planned to launch with Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Even so, the team announced that it needed more time and that therefore they preferred to delay it until a date yet to be defined. The only official thing is that it will come out sometime in 2021, also on Xbox One and PC.
