Hideki Kamiya explains the innocent PlatinumGames in April's Fools

The Japanese company revealed that they would announce the news of the Platinum4 on April 1, but in the end it turned out to be a parody.

Scalebound? An unpublished product? All bets were on the table, but PlatinumGames revealed Sol Cresta, a video game that does not exist (unlike Moon Cresta, a classic shooters). The Japanese company used April's Fools, April Fool's Day in some countries, to slide its joke, when all the players were aware of what the study of Bayonetta 3 and The Wonderful 101 was up to. Hideki Kamiya, a Capcom veteran and one of the directors of PlatinumGames, has explained why they decided to implement this decision. And yes, it is due to the coronavirus.

“We PlatinumGames celebrated April's Fools day again. Although I am aware that we live in difficult times, as a person who entertains there is a part of me that wanted to encourage you, even if it is a little bit. The creative wanted to thank the participation of Hamster, a company that is real and that appears as an accomplice to the joke.

"I've always had my own rules about April's Fools' pranks, such as making it obvious that this is a prank and making sure it doesn't disappoint when it is found out to be a prank." However, this time they wanted to do something that at first caused expectation. "I hope you were able to laugh a little." Also, remember the fact that "this is PlatinumGames".

The confirmed projects

Given the reaction on social networks, it does not give the impression that the objective has been achieved at all. Many comments from Twitter and Facebook pointed in one direction: disappointment. In any case, the studio is already working on several confirmed projects. In addition to Babylon's Fall and Bayonetta 3, produced by Square Enix and Nintendo, respectively, the team is developing the remastering of The Wonderful 101 and an unreleased video game, Project G.G.

Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox division, has made it clear that Microsoft is not resurrecting Scalebound, a canceled PlatinumGames title that has been mourned by users.
