How does the Deathloop loop work? Its creators solve all doubts

The director of Deathloop explains how the playable concept of Arkane’s new work works. This will go through the loop at Blackreef. Will you survive?

Arkane Studios shows how the playable concept of Deathloop works in practice, their newest work for PS5 and PC. Dinga Bakaba, director of the game, is in charge of guiding us in this little first look at a route through Blackreef.

This is how the Deathloop loop works

Bakaba describes Deathloop as “a murder puzzle in which you play the role of a murderer caught in a loop.” Every day we will wake up on the shore of a beach with a single objective: to destroy the eight leaders of a group that is holding us hostage. Each game will serve to learn more about what surrounds us and the activities of the bosses.

Blackreef will be divided into 4 districts, which will change their routine according to the time slot. During the morning, noon, afternoon or night, the leaders and their comrades will vary in location. Sometimes these will open up double murder opportunities, for example, while at other times it will make it difficult (or easier) to access one.

Although the game is over time, players will not have a time limit. The only time the loop restarts is death. Going back to the starting square is not as punishing as it may seem. We will keep the weapon mods that we have harvested, as well as the supernatural powers. Discovered pieces of information will also be kept.

Regarding weapons, we know that we will find artifacts that modify them in “amazing ways.” Improving the arsenal will be essential in order to survive the attacks of Julianna, the nemesis that will chase us in each loop. Bakaba assures us that we will die more than once at his hands. As we already knew, it will be a way of invasion of other players through the network; in case you don’t want to, it will be controlled by artificial intelligence.

For its part, Deathloop will debut on PS5 and PC on May 21.
