How to access the Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition beta

We tell you how to access the beta sessions of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, the remastering of the Microsoft classic.

The remastering of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is only a few weeks after receiving its first private test. After the work done with the first two deliveries, Microsoft will enable the first users to enter their pre-launch status.

Starting in February, the company will send random invitations to those who participate in the Insider program of the Age of Empires saga. To participate is very simple, you simply have to access this link and fill out the attached form. One of the important points of the process is the DXDiag document, which fully details the guts of your computer. The system requirements required for this test are the following:

  • Windows 10 64bit

  • 8GB of RAM

  • 2GB of video memory

  • DX11

  • HD Graphics 4400 or higher

This beta period will take place on both Steam and the version for Microsoft Store. The invitation you receive will depend on the platform you have selected. If you don't remember what it is, you can update your information within your Insider profile. Accessing the beta requires confirming a confidentiality agreement subject to the guidelines that the company wants to include.

The initial sessions in February will be dedicated solely to multiplayer, matchmaking and "the way the game feels when you play with others," according to the study in its official blog. Little by little they will expand the player base until they reach more audience, but that will be in March. From what is known about the campaign, there will be some sessions limited to specific missions.

January 28 will be the deadline to update and register for this wave of invitations, so if you are interested you should update it from now on. If you are one of the lucky ones, you will be notified via email.
