Ubisoft Montreal launched Hyper Scape on August 11, a bet within the genre that wants to break with several of the traditional mechanics seen in the rest of its competitors. Welcome to Neo Arcadia
Neo Arcadia is a completely different game zone than what you are used to. Hyper Scape is the first title of the genre to pose combat in a futuristic and urban environment. While navigating the stage you will find jumping platforms, which will make your surroundings a key part of your survival in games.
You no longer only have to think horizontally, but upwards. Thanks to the double jump and the possibility of climbing, you have an assortment of playable tools with which to exploit your abilities. You will see that the map structure is designed based on different districts built around a key point. These, marked in orange, represent the area with the highest available loot. And yes, one of them is Notre Dame in all its virtual splendor. Each district offers a unique way to navigate.
Fight for the crown … or kill them all
The end zone of a game in Hyper Scape is completely different from what you are used to. Upon reaching the last standing district, a crown will be displayed in the center of it. The survivors must fight to equip it; if you pick it up, it will start a 45 second countdown. If you reach the end of time with her, you will win the game.
Although there is another condition to win: kill them all. It is not necessary to complete the countdown to the crown if there is no one left to oppose you. In the end, you have in your hand to adopt the strategy you prefer, even to use the crown as a trap with which to ambush those who try to catch it.
Death is the beginning
Playing the squad modes you will see that death is interpreted in a much more fun way. When you die and have other living companions, you will continue to manage your character … from the afterlife. This ghostly version of your avatar will allow you to have a privileged view of the action of the game as if you were one of the others.
And how can you revive? Very easy. When an enemy is killed, they drop a revive platform that is marked on the ghost’s interface. As a dead entity, you must mark it and warn your companions that you can come back to life there. Reanimate takes just a few seconds to activate; you will appear directly at the same point.
A new way of understanding equipment
Hyper Scape breaks with inventories, navigation menus and complex equipment. You only have to worry about carrying two hacks and two weapons, nothing more. The search for loot, therefore, is subject to finding identical versions of the ones we have equipped. After collecting them, we will update the weapon or skill that we have equipped, which improves its performance in multiple ways. They can be updated up to a limited number of times; Upon maxing out, you will have the legendary version of that particular team.
Hacks are active special abilities. Basically they add up to a total of eleven different ones. Do you want to transform yourself into a giant ball with which to flee from the enemy? Can. Do you want to stop the advance of your rival? Create a wall and break its action. As you can see, there are multiple ways to turn the Hyper Scape experience into a much more dynamic one, always based on our ability to take advantage of these movements. The game has a different way of connecting players and spectators. Thanks to the close collaboration with Twitch, those users who broadcast the game will allow their followers to have a direct impact on the Hyper Scape experience. At the moment, the possibility of choosing the dynamic event of the games is available, such as making the movement be at low gravity, among a total of 9.
