Lovers of the traditional format will be able to get a unit for Sony and Microsoft consoles, although they will be very limited units.

Nicalis has confirmed that the most modern version of Ikaruga will have a physical format version for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. After passing through the digital distribution portals of Sony and Microsoft machines last year 2018, the American publisher will sell very limited units of the game in stores; still to be confirmed if any publisher will do the same in Europe.

"Physical copies of Ikaruga for Nintendo Switch and PS4 are already in production," begins by saying the message through the social network Twitter. "The release date will be announced when all the details are finished," he says. Given the region free character of both systems, those who buy the game in physical format can execute it legally and without problems.

Ikaruga, initially launched on arcade machines in December 2001, had a domestic version for Dreamcast a year later, while on GameCube it did the same in 2003. Five years later, in 2008, Xbox 360 players received their own version which kept preventing this shoot 'em up from being forgotten, for some one of the best in history. Finally, on PC it went on sale in 2014, until last year it closed its particular circle with Switch and PS4. Those who want to play the title vertically, remember that there is already a vertical support that emulates the most original experience.

Ikaruga Reviews on FreeGameTips

In FreeGameTips we dedicated an Reviews to this considered cult game of Treasure last year, when this version was released for the current generation. In the text we conclude by saying that it was "a safe bet for Nintendo Switch".

To this we add: “The possibilities of the system in terms of multiplayer, portability and rotation, as well as its enormous rejugability – totally in force 17 years later – are more than enough reasons to give this game of difficulty more fascinating than desperate. Although, yes, do not bring great news for those who have enjoyed it in any of the previous editions published these years. ”
