Jeremy Clarke captured pole for the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
LMP2 Pole Duel
At Mosport’s 10‑turn, 2.459‑mile layout, Clarke’s #43 ORECA LMP2 07 topped the field with a 1m07.904‑second flying lap, marking his fourth career pole and his first on the historic track.
Clarke’s season‑long preparation paid off after a tense session where the Swiss driver pushed the “interregular” to a 1m08.376, then eclipsed by Clarke’s 1m08.224 two minutes before the clock stilled. A back‑and‑forth battle saw PJ Hyett defend the lead with a 1m08.186 lap, while Misha Goikhberg vaulted into second place with a 1m08.195 lap.
Goikhberg pitted for fresh tyres and returned with five minutes left, recording a 1m08.077 lap. Meanwhile, Hyett stayed out, lapping 1m08.019, unable to turnover the pace‑war. Clarke rounded the session with a 1m07.904, sealing the provisional pole and the field’s lead.
GTD Pro Class Clashes
Neil Verhagen secured GTD Pro pole for Paul Miller Racing in the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. With just under two minutes remaining, he clocked a 1m14.382‑second lap, roughly half a second clear of competitor Max Esterson’s 1m14.567 in the RLL Team McLaren #59.
Verhagen’s performance marked his second pole at Mosport, a track he says “has a special pull” on him. “The high‑speed commitment is exhilarating,” he explained, crediting the crew for a “really amazing” car built through the practice‑qualifying grind.
Alexander Sims and teammates from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller occupied the next two positions, with Sims leading the 2‑4 lockout. Scott Andrews of Team Blanche claimed fifth, while Jack Hawksworth from Vasser Sullivan rounded the top six.
GTD Sprint Battle
Dudu Barrichello, racing the #27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO for Heart of Racing, obtained the GTD pole with a 1m15.130 lap. His run was notable as the car sat in the pit lane for five minutes at the session’s start, only to emerge almost four minutes later and clinch the top spot.
The Brazilian’s achievement represents his second pole of the season and the first at this track, which he described as “a long five minutes of my life.” “The car was mega,” he added, praising teammate Roman De Angelis.
Filippi, behind the wheel of the DXTD Racing #36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, finished second, 0.243 seconds adrift. A first‐time GT3 qualifier, Filippi reflected on the “most fun” he’s had behind the wheel, while Benjamin Pedersen (Vasser Sullivan #12 Lexus RC F GT3) occupied third and Russell Ward of Winward Racing’s #57 Mercedes‑AMG GT3 took fourth.
