Laurin Heinrich will take the wheel of JDC‑Miller MotorSports’ #5 Porsche 963 at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen on June 28, sidestepping his previously planned appearance at the 24 Hours of Spa.
Heinrich re‑enters the GTP field with a championship‑sized push
The German, who split his 2026 IMSA WeatherTech schedule between Porsche Penske Motorsport and JDC‑Miller, originally had nothing to do at Watkins Glen. A conflict with Schumacher CLRT at Spa forced a swift course correction, granting him the chance to contest the season title from his strong second place in the standings.
His season tally includes three victories, most notably the historic win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca that marked the first GTP triumph for a privateer team. At Glen, he is lined up beside Tijmen van der Helm and Kaylen Frederick in the 963.
Team dynamics and leadership praise
“I’m very happy to be racing at Watkins Glen with JDC‑Miller MotorSports,” Heinrich said. “It’s a great opportunity to continue my championship fight in IMSA. I thank Porsche Motorsport and Schumacher CLRT for making this last‑minute change possible.”
Managing partner John Church welcomed the move, noting that Heinrich brings “a can‑do attitude and amazing driving talent.” Church added that the driver “has really clicked with our team” and that his arrival bolsters confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
Mid‑season and finale schedule
Heinrich will maintain the #5 seat through the Road America sprint and the Indianapolis 500‑style points race before rejoining the #7 Porsche 969 for the Petit Le Mans finale at Road Atlanta with Porsche Penske Motorsport.
