Killzone: Mercenary (PS Vita) closes online servers without notice

The Guerrilla Games video game for PlayStation Vita no longer has access to its online modalities. Sony has not reported on this.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has shut down Killzone: Mercenary online services for PS Vita. Guerrilla Games' first-person multiplayer video game, which expanded its experience through online servers, no longer allows access to these options. As confirmed by several players of the title through a thread on Reddit, for days now it is no longer possible to join multiplayer games or create rooms for others to join.

The Japanese company, responsible for the state of the servers and the activity of the same, has not ruled in this regard on the date of publication of this news. However, from the PlayStation games website with the support of retired servers, the name of Killzone does not appear: Mercenary; thus, it is possible that it is a temporary closure.

The game is still available for purchase on the PS Store

Despite the fact that the community is asking for the servers to be restored, in none of the preceding cases has it served, it was in vain. Not surprisingly, Killzone: Mercenary is still available for purchase both in the PS Store in the United States and in Europe at a price of 19.99 euros with mention of online multiplayer modes as one of its main features.

The last official and well-known cases are DriveClub (PS4), InFAMOUS Second Son (PS4), PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale (PS3, PS Vita) or ModNation Racers (PS3, PS Vita).

When Sony is asked about a possible successor to PS Vita, from the company, CEO and President Jim Ryan stated last December that this is a business that the company is not interested in right now. “PlayStation Vita was brilliant in many ways; and their real gaming experience was great, but it is clearly a business that we are no longer in, ”said the manager in a meeting with Game Informer. The next big date of PlayStation players with Sony is called PlayStation 5, whose first games we will meet live this Thursday, June 4.
