Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road details Xehanort and Master Eraqus; more characters

The new mobile installment will be integrated into Kingdom Hears: Union X and will offer an origin story, that of the villain of the saga.

It has always been said that the Kingdom Hearts saga has broken its main story across many titles on very varied platforms. Despite the complaints, Square Enix does not seem to be in the process of changing its modus operandi, since after the launch of the third installment, it announced that it had several new titles underway. One of them is Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road, a new chapter for mobile devices with Android and iOS operating systems. The Japanese company has just offered new information about its character template, which will incorporate Xehanort and Master Eraqus.

The first of them is nothing more and nothing less than the great villain of the saga, whose story does not seem to end. “Why did this young man become a seeker of darkness?” The answer will be revealed in this video game. On the other hand, the second confirmed character is a young version of Master Eraqus, who acts as Xehanort’s partner. Throughout the adventure, players will discover the reasons for this strong relationship between the two characters.

More characters in development

Other protagonists who will join the adventure will be Urd, Hermod, Bragi and Vor. As Square Enix announced, this game will be integrated into Kingdom Hearts: Union X, the free-to-play mobile terminal game. The new production will therefore narrate the origins of the great villain of the series, in a product that will function as a plot prequel.

Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road was scheduled for spring, but Square Enix decided to delay it due to the coronavirus. Despite efforts to respect the release date, the Japanese have been unable to meet the schedule. At the moment, a new date has not been confirmed, so everything is in the air.

After many years of waiting, Tetsuya Nomura finished Kingdom Hearts 3 in early 2019. The creative Japanese is focused on the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, although Sora, Donald and company will still have much to say.
